Single-stage or two-stage pulping?
Select a stage arrangement from two questions: what must be removed first, and what finishing duty remains on the accepted stream?
Prepared feed
Define fruit, temperature and upstream preparation.
Rotor action + screen surface
Functional illustration; not a machine drawingThrough-screen product
Test texture and defects against the product brief.
Retained solids
Inspect integrity and useful pulp remaining.
| Decision | One defined stage | Two defined stages |
|---|---|---|
| Separation purpose | One specified recovery or finishing duty | Separate first-stage and second-stage purposes |
| Feed boundary | Prepared material suitable for that chamber | First-stage preparation plus intermediate feed specification |
| Samples | Feed, product and reject | First-stage feed/product/reject plus second-stage product/reject |
| Settings | One screen/rotor/feed condition set | Independent conditions and loading for each stage |
| Cleaning and access | One chamber and its interfaces | Both chambers plus interstage transfer |
| Selection evidence | Product brief and reject evidence met in a representative trial | Need for each stage demonstrated, not inferred from two chambers |
Add a stage for a demonstrated purpose
A second chamber may divide coarse removal and finer finishing, but it also adds a transfer boundary, cleaning access and another set of operating conditions. Compare final quality and each reject stream against a defined single-stage alternative.
There is no automatic capacity or recovery multiplier. Ask for the proposed machine arrangement, actual material conditions, sample method and acceptance criteria.
