Passion fruit pulping: define the feed and the product
Seed removal from a prepared juice-and-pulp stream. Extraction from the rind and finishing the extracted stream are separate duties. Decide whether the target retains seeds or requires a seed-separated product before selecting a screen.

Preparation comes first
Extraction from the rind and finishing the extracted stream are separate duties. Decide whether the target retains seeds or requires a seed-separated product before selecting a screen.
The sample decides the separation duty
State the extraction method, seed-retention target, pulp content and screen duty. Inspect seed damage alongside product texture and the useful pulp left in the reject.
Build an equipment enquiry
Send the fruit and preparation, kilograms per hour of prepared feed, target product and intended downstream process. Request a confirmed configuration rather than assuming a photograph establishes compatibility.
| Stage | What to define | What to measure |
|---|---|---|
| Extraction | How pulp and juice leave the rind; whether seeds remain. | Extraction method, pulp-to-seed ratio and feed temperature. |
| Separation | Seed-retention target and the screen or rotor duty. | Seed damage, pulp recovery, screen loading and blinding. |
| Reject | Rind, seeds and fibrous solids; residual pulp. | Reject mass, seed count and useful pulp remaining. |
| Product | Pulp level, aroma-sensitive handling and downstream process. | Collected mass, pulp content and the agreed texture method. |
Questions before a trial
Should passion fruit seeds be removed?
Only if the product brief requires it. Seed retention, seed damage and pulp recovery are separate decisions; test the intended product rather than applying one screen setting to every juice or puree.
Can one machine extract whole passion fruit and finish the pulp?
Whole-fruit extraction and finishing an extracted stream are different duties. Define the extraction step, feed boundary and downstream product before comparing equipment.
